Interior design for middle-grade novel
The interior design for MATYLDA, BRIGHT AND TENDER needed to be accessible for the young audience, but tender enough for the subject matter. In the end, I hand-painted spots similar to Matylda’s to use throughout the text, particularly evoking the lizard’s tail on the chapter opener spreads. These organic shapes are eye-catching and evocative, while still being soft and organic.
